Silvertip shark, Silvertip whaler.

Diet : Tuna, bonito, flying-fish and other open water fish.
Reproduction : Viviparous : Females give birth to between 1 and 11 live young per litter after a years gestation.
Size : Maximum 3 metres  Average female 1.7 metres Average male 1.4 metres

 

Distribution of Silvertip Shark Distribution : Common throughout the tropical waters of the Indian ocean and  Pacific ocean. Found offshore from the surface to depths of 800 metres, to close inshore in lagoons. Most often found around open ocean islands on coral reefs and banks.

 

Danger to man : Potentially dangerous. Has been known to harass divers although no fatal attack has ever been recorded.
