Diet : Small bony fish, squid and octopus.
Reproduction : Viviparous : Females give birth to between 15 to 30 pups per litter, each pup measuring around 50cm.
Size : Maximum 4.2 metres  Average female 2.6 metres Average male 2.1 metres

 

Distribution of Scalloped Hammerhead Shark Distribution : Worldwide in tropical  and warm temperate waters. Often  found in shallow coastal areas, bays and estuaries. Also found far offshore at depths of up to 300 metres.

   

Danger to man : It's size makes it potentially dangerous, although many people believe the Scalloped hammerhead to be an non-aggressive species. Any attacks linked with this shark are probably the work of other large hammerheads.
Economic Importance : Like all the hammerhead sharks, the Scalloped hammerhead is an IGFA gamefish.
Other Comments : The most common of all the hammerheads.
