Distribution : Worldwide in tropical and warm temperate waters. Often found in shallow coastal areas, bays and estuaries. Also found far offshore at depths of up to 300 metres. |
| Danger to man : | It's size makes it potentially dangerous, although many people believe the Scalloped hammerhead to be an non-aggressive species. Any attacks linked with this shark are probably the work of other large hammerheads. |
| Economic Importance : | Like all the hammerhead sharks, the Scalloped hammerhead is an IGFA gamefish. |
