Day 3

Mount Kinabalu from Park Headquarters (34K)

Drive to Kinabalu Park HQ. Its worth walking some of the trails from the HQ and going to the tour of the botanical gardens held every day. Kinabalu Park Forest (71K)
Day 4 Mount Kinabalua looking up from the Trail (54K) We begin ascent of the mountain. Generally a steady ascent mostly by man made steps with lots of rest stops on the way.
Finish the climb for the day at Laban Rata Rest house (3300m) where hot food, showers and sleeping accommodation is available.

Our group averaged 4-6 hours to complete the days climb.
Day 5 Get up at 2 in the morning to reach the summit for Sunrise. You'll meet lots of other people on the stairs and rope pulls to the top.

Low's Peak at 4101m (38K)

Sunrise from the Summit over Low's Gully (21K)If you class yourself in good condition I recommend leaving a bit later. We sat for over an hour at the summit waiting for sunrise and it was very, very cold !

Donkey Ears Peaks (55K)

Low's Peak is the Summit at 4101m but there are several other peaks at the top as well. Victoria Peak (38K)
South Peak (40K)

South Peak can also be climbed although its a bit more difficult than Low's Peak.

The descent is quick and easy with some spectacular views -

Use the easier descent to look out for Pitcher plants on the way down.
