Ebay is a great generator of
cash, I know because three years ago I was in a bit
of debt and hardship (I know it’s hard to admit),
but I learnt out of desperation to sell a few items
stored away that where just gathering dust through
Ebay, and I was soon back on the right side of
things, now I’m a great fan of Ebay, I can assure
you it is possible to profit from Ebay and turn your
life around for the good, just read on.
I’ve learnt a few things in the three years
or so spent dealing on Ebay and this is what I want
to pass onto you, I’m not going to brag about
making a fortune because that’s not true, but
I’ve made enough to be comfortable.
O.K. lets start, are you short of cash? Do
you have a few surplus items hanging about or stored
away that maybe of value to someone else, maybe some
collectables i.e. stamps, old postcards, cameras,
old fishing equipment etc, by the way Fishing
equipments my speciality if you have any old reels
then email me with details we might be able to come
to some agreement.. Do you see the idea, something
that maybe of no interest to you any longer maybe of
great interest to someone else and they will pay
good money for.
First do you have an account with Ebay if not
go to www.ebay.com
and set one up, o.k. have you done that? ‘Great’
we’re off, by the way did you have a look around
just to familiarise yourself with the layout, it’s
worth the time to see what range of goodies are
offered, plus did you notice the sheer scale of the
operation, at anyone time there are literally
millions of items for sale, and millions of
viewers/bidders, it’s a huge market place and
growing all the time, it has been reckoned Ebay will
grow for the next ten years.
Right you’ve selected your valuable to sell
now you must select the category it will be listed
under that will maximise the number of bids and get
you the highest price which is the name of the game,
yes!
Go to Ebay home page and put
the description of your item into the search box,
and a lot of similar items will be listed, please
note the category these items have been listed
under. Click on a few of these items and get an idea
of the amounts being bid and what your item should
make.
Next you really need a picture of your item,
if the item is flat i.e. postcards, documents,
stamps or books, then you can scan an image onto
your hard drive so it can be uploaded later. If
it’s a more solid item then you’ll need a
digital camera to upload an image, sorry these can
be expensive maybe you have a friend or relative you
could borrow one from until you make enough to buy
your own, when you have your own it will be
invaluable and will pay for itself many times over,
because then you could buy items from car boot
sales, antique fairs etc. snap a picture put onto
Ebay and make a profit, you have the beginnings of a
business, I’ll cover this in another newsletter.
If you do not have some
format to upload images then you could start by
trying to sell by description alone but you’ll
probably not realise the true value of your object,
people will be buying blind.
Prepare a description of your item before
listing, describe it fully and honestly, do not over
embellish, mention things like dents, missing paint,
page tear etc. If you neglect to be 100% truthful
the item maybe sent back and you’ll have to make a
refund.
Prepare a good descriptive header, make it
short but to the point, imagine you saw the header,
would you be interested?
Right this is the big moment, back onto Ebay
and hit the sell button, maybe this is a good time
to have another look around the site, go to the
‘Sellers help Area’ learn and take on board all
the suggestions, the help areas on Ebay are
excellent and you never need to waste your money on
‘How to be successful on Ebay’ books. These
books usually just copy what is freely available on
Ebay.
If this is your first time take things one
step at a time, do not rush, look at the options
given and pick the best that suite you and your
item. Make sure you put into the minimum price the
amount you want your item to start at, do not put to
high a price on otherwise you will scare the bidders
away. Your item I can assure you will reach its
market value even if you set off at a very low
price.
Once you have placed in your description,
entered your header, uploaded your pictures, then
you are given a chance to review your item, this
will show you how it will appear to the viewers. If
something does not seem right does not appeal to you
amend it and check again. Check for grammatical
errors, and also make sure the spelling is correct.
Even when you have loaded up you can still revise
your item details so long as no one has bid yet.
Well I hope this small
newsletter will be of help to you, I’m sure you
will find Ebay a great way of helping to improve
your financial situation plus even start up a
