The casual observer will consider rocks
to be dull and grey. Look in the hinterland between high and
low tide where the rocks are washed and sandblasted every day,
day in, day out. If we go in and take a closer view, we begin
to see their natural colours. The variety of colours seems to
be infinite and range from mauve to buff, from chalk blue to
orange and all the colours of the palette. Even these colours
seem to vary in their intensity often depending on the dampness
of the weather conditions and often the time of the year. They
form attractive abstract studies, their beauty lying in the subtlety
of the colour but supported by simple lines and composition.
The photographs were taken on Fuji Velvia film in
overcast lighting conditions at various locations in the NE of
England, N Devon and the E coast of Scotland. |
