Janus
like, I look ahead, but
Acknowledge what I leave behind.
With chemists knife, I cut
Those heavy ties that bind
Me to my former life, knowing as I do,
That there will be, no going
back,
But a further turning of the screw;
Another stretching on the rack.
Reluctantly I heed the drive
To change, to grow, to live the dreams.
Headlong, in helpless dive
My woman's heart has led, it seems,
To promise of uncertainty;
A mix of joy and pain;
A goal that hints of ecstasy,
But a journey in the rain. |
