The Cookery Cottage is located on the Surrey / London Borders in the historic village of Carshalton. Here is the heart of the once-famous lavender growing region of England; and despite being only a few miles form London, the place was once described as 'as rural a village as if lost in Northumberland'.
Today the town is the home of the BioRegional Development group, a ground-breaking charity whose mission is to establish sustainable local industries, and who are reviving the local lavender industry, a project with which we are associated ; we hope to be in a position to market traditional English lavender from this site later in the year!

BioRegional's efforts have been recognised in no less a forum than the Rio Earth Summit; and in this context it is an appropriate setting for an organisation dedicated to reviving and fostering the regional variety in British cuisine.
