The
fatal floor The Regulars managed last week to make it another successful performance at the Jug of Ale, overcoming the best efforts of their acrobatic singer to do otherwise. Midway through the second song, Today at last, Pete's antics realised the risk they had long been running, and the Grimbarian singer's balance finally departed. His fall was broken by the comforting frame of Stu, but the Baggie bassist, too, happily emerged unscathed. The band recovered their composure sufficiently to continue with another impressive set, with the new tune Smart dress only steadily improving and a new arrangement of Try, with no rhythm section, adding variation. Also notable was the set's omission of July's debut single Lie down and fight - for the first time since its introduction in late 1998. Next up is a return to the Jug on Wednesday 20 December, for the Bearos Records Christmas special. The Regs will be playing a two-song acoustic set featuring a favourite carol; and lots of other bands are on too. See the gigs bit for more information. |
