Take it as Redditch
27 Mar 2001

The follow-up single to last year's Regulars debut is to be recorded next month - meaning a possible release in late May or early June.

The band took the decision to book in at Smallwood Studios after visiting the Redditch recording emporium last week.

Being partly owned by Zoot Promotions, the studio offers Mat the Zoot soundman as producer and engineer. Impressed by samples of his recent work with Brum compatriots Autolight, Baxxter and The Starries, The Regulars decided to give Smallwood a go.

Reports suggest that the on-site pool table and Playstation room may also have been a factor.

Two songs will be recorded on 22 and 23 April, though the choice of tracks from recent demo recordings remains to be finalised. The people's choice would appear to be live favourite This is the sound - but the band themselves seem to be looking elsewhere.

The single will be released on Bearos Records - the label responsible for the Regs' first release Lie down and fight last summer.

When the band finally decides which songs to record, an immediate announcement will be made here - with previews of the artwork to follow. Don't go away, popkids.
