Early
booking After the success of last year's ArtsFest'99 performances, The Regulars have made early moves to ensure another slot this time around. Bearos Records - who the band have to thank for last year's appearance - is again expected to be involved. Stu has today contacted the festival's new organising committee and the early signs are good for another show from The Regulars. The band memorably played two slots in one day at last year's festival - a kicking 20-minute afternoon slot at the Fiddle and Bone (a photograph from which currently illustrates the front page of this website) and later a tremendous acoustic slot at the Flapper & Firkin's Dirty Dick's night. Afterwards, these performances had Mr Bearos, Alan Farmer, begging to release them as a limited live CD. This year's ArtsFest - organised by the admirable Birmingham Arts Marketing - will be Birmingham's third. The last saw national coverage from the BBC, and combined audience figures across the weekend reaching five figures. The 2000 event - to be staged this September - is expected to confirm ArtsFest's status as the largest free festival of its kind anywhere in the UK. |
