Treble chance

Following their recent exertions at the Flapper, The Regulars have a week or two of breathing space away from the live circuit - but Bearwood's busiest band have plenty to be getting on with.

No less than three new songs are in progress, with one each contributed by the usual songwriting suspects of Chopper and Pete - and another from the less prolific plectrum of Paul.

The rock 'n' rolly doley's only previous composition for the Regs is the majestic These things obscure, but the early signs are that his new tune - every bit a moody masterpiece - will be equally worth the wait.

Significant progress was made this week on Chopper's offering, a tricky, laid-back, riff-driven pop song; while Pete's 'Think like a girl' stems from a period of intense revelation and renewal experienced by the singer over the new year period.

As if all that were not enough, this week's session at Arcadeia saw the band plugging away on a rearrangement of their early favourite Saturday song.

When, and indeed whether, any of these songs make it into the live set is anyone's guess - but watch this space to find out. The next Regulars gig is on Thursday 1 April, back at the Flapper.
