drift In a gesture proving that music is more important than cars, the second of the two Jug of Ale appearances by the Regs scheduled for April has been put back by a month. Organiser Alan Farmer of Bearos Records received a request from Teutonic avant-gardeners Ma Cherie For Painting for a Birmingham gig at the end of April, and The Regulars chose to defy the pernicious wave of anti-German hysteria currently sweeping the West Midlands by agreeing to make way for the European visitors. The other two groups involved are Bearos favourites Los Planetos Del Agua and Burton-on-Trent's Unisex, who found considerable acclaim circa 1990 in former incarnation The Telescopes. Both remain on the bill alongside Ma Cherie. The rescheduled Regulars gig will fall on Saturday 27 May - during the BBC's Music Live event - and will instead feature Brum grungepopsters Baxter and a first ever - and long overdue - pairing with Jameson, the much-touted local five-piece who gave the Bearos label its first release in 1998 with the 'Silverado' 45. April's other Jug of Ale gig - supporting stylish American indie tourists The Butterflies of Love - is unaffected, and goes ahead on Wednesday 19 April [thank you Chloe and Si]. The Regulars are happy with the reshuffle, as the new date will be closer to the eventual release of their debut single and has also given them space to arrange another Flapper gig in between. This will be a headline slot on Saturday 13 May. More details will follow on this site. To stay in touch keep an eye on the gigs section, or by all means join the Regulist. |
