Regs to play Reading
20 Mar 2001

The Regulars are finally set to end their confinement to the West Midlands later this month with a gig in the middle-England boom town of Reading.

The gig sees the band reunited with Saloon, whose Bearos Records release last year coincided with that of the Regs' debut single Lie down and fight.- meaning a joint launch gig back in July.

And following a natter with Pete at last month's Pop-A-Go-Go festival in Sheffield, Saloon's Adam Cresswell invited the Regs to bring lyrical guitar pop to Berkshire.

Since their first gig in late 1996, The Regulars' furthest excursions to date have been only as far as Coventry and Wolverhampton - a state of isolation many feel should have been ended long before now.

With The Regulars looking to head further afield later this year as their second single is released, the Reading date - at the town's Rising Sun Arts Centre on 31 March - would appear to be ideal preparation - as if the opportunity to link up with Saloon and their wonderful hypnotic sunshine pop weren't incentive enough.

Any Regs fans looking to travel to the gig from Brum are urged to leave messages on the guestbook or email the band at hello@theregulars.co.uk with a view to sharing lifts and stuff like that.

More details about the gig - including a timely summary of relevant Berkshire buses - can be found on the gigs page.

Back at home, preparation is well under way for the next Regulars gig - at the Jug of Ale this Saturday, 24 March, with Spacehoppers stepping in to provide support.

A third band may well be added to the bill before this weekend, so keep checking back to the gigs page this week to find out what happens.

There also remains a possibility that Pete will follow up Saturday's gig with a solo acoustic set at the Flapper on Sunday night. Again, stay tuned to this channel for the latest bulletins.
