Easterly
breeze While The Regulars' debut single Lie down and fight continues to sell respectably for a vinyl-only release with no pluggers or marketing or anything, a helping hand has descended from unexpected quarters. In what is believed to be the first ever airplay for a Regs recording, DJ Emanuel Focsan of Romanian radio station Radio Sud recently saw fit to give a spin to the disc's popular b-side North star. The track was played last week on Emanuel's show Clar Obscur - alongside better-known recordings from such indie pop heroes as Belle and Sebastian and contributions from Bearos Records labelmates Grover and yellow6. The only previous instance of a Regulars song being aired in eastern Europe came in 1998, when Steve from Tempo and Lizzie Adams - strangers to each other but friends to the Regs - met by chance in a Warsaw bar, discovered they both knew Regs bassist Stu, and launched into a rendition of...none other than North star. |
