Slack on the road
12 Jul 2001

After Pete was asked between 30 and 40 times last Saturday when The Regulars would next be playing live, the band have decided to update this site with details of their forthcoming single launch gig.

The Regs will headline the Jug of Ale, Moseley, Birmingham, on Friday 3 August - and with any luck, copies of the band's new Bearos Records single This is the sound will be back from the pressing plant in time for you to buy them on the night.

The recording was made back in April, but various factors combined to delay its release until well into the summer.

The gig will mark the end of a frustrating few months of silence for The Regulars, who have been off the road since April after losing a bassist.

Also appearing will be Grandscope - soon to be making a Bearos release of their own - and the very wonderful M J Hibbett & the Validators - the best thing to come out of Leicester since Gary Lineker's right foot.

Besides airing the new record, the gig will also mark the debut appearance of new Regulars bassist Richard Banner, whose permanent membership of the band was recently confirmed when he bought a lovely new blue guitar.

Rich has been working hard to nail down the basslines for the band's existing songs - and at the same time coming up with some funky shit of his own for a brand new Regulars song about bad TV.

More stuff about the next gig - including further details of the other bands and directions to the venue - can be found in the gigs section of this very site.
