Hello
champers The Regulars took their first steps on the long and winding road of rock 'n' roll decadence this week as they celebrated the release of their debut single with a champagne supper. Monday saw the official release of the record - the long-awaited Lie down and fight, on Birmingham's Bearos Records - and the band were delighted to accept an invitation for celebration from the landlord of their long-time local boozer the Dog. Leaving Arcadeia an hour early, at nine o'clock, the Regs proceeded to the pub, where said landlord and new Regulist member, Jim, exceeded all expectations by providing a magnificent spread of food and champers for the band and their mates. Pete commented: "Funny how it always tastes better when you're releasing your first single." The Dog - which was reopened last December after refurbishment, to The Regulars' immense relief - has been the setting for many pivotal moments in the band's career to date. Lie down and fight and North star were chosen as the debut single tracks at a meeting there; Stu asked Chopper to join the band after several pints' of the Dog's finest; and it was there, too, that the very name of the band was decided - way back in 1996. It was entirely apposite, therefore, that the event to which all this had been building up should be commemorated at the Dog; and The Regulars would like to give great big thanks to Jim for enabling this to be done in such style. |
