Get
your hands off our Chopper Acclaim for the latest Regulars gig poster has been widespread, with several individuals intending to take them home after the gig for the sitting room wall. The poster features a seventies-flavoured image of a young lad on a Raleigh Chopper bike on a playing field, complete with dog. The photograph was published in December to illustrate a Guardian feature on the impending closure of Raleigh's Nottingham factory, and was saved from the recycling bin by our mate Beks. The identity of the young lad is unclear, but speculation has ranged from John Squires to Johnny Marr to Pete himself, with a lengthy stopover at John Noakes. Stu's sterling efforts in distributing the poster at the usual spots in Birmingham were greeted by observers who liked it so much they wanted one for themselves. Jackie Zoot and Andy Kosmische were among the names mentioned. This positive poster response follows extensive nods of approval for last year's 'Regubus' design. It is only to be hoped that this translates into a good turn-out at the Flapper tonight. |
