In September 1998 he invited The Regulars to release a debut single on his recently formed label Bearos Records. They agreed. In March 2000 the disc is still to be recorded. Rather than becoming fatally cheesed off with these constant and torturous postponements, though, Alan Farmer has handed the band a massive vote of confidence by allocating the record a catalogue number and displaying its sleeve on his website.

The eagerly awaited release of Lie down and fight - now assuming semi-legendary Second Coming status on the Birmingham music scene - will be catalogued as Bearos011 and distributed by Cargo on its eventual release.

The sleeve design featured on the Bearos site is the work-in-progress of Walsall designer Al Stewart, and uses Al's own timelapse photography. A finalised design is expected shortly and will be featured here in due course.

And with gigs lined up to promote the release, only the small matter of recording it will remain.

It now appears that producer Paul Glave - who was about to start work with The Regulars at the time of his recent accident - will be prevented from going ahead with the project by prior commitments to tour as soundman to fellow Birmingham bands Broadcast and King Adora.

Other possibilities have arisen, however, and any developments will be reported here immediately.
