The sequence of disasters that has dogged the recording of The Regulars' debut single Lie down and fight has hopefully been put to an end with the arrangement last week of new studio dates.

Should producer Gavin Monaghan make it through the next four weeks with all limbs intact, he will do the honours in the first week of May on both tracks earmarked for the Bearos Records release.

Monaghan, whose work with acclaimed Brum-glum outfit Broadcast yielded superb results with 'The book lovers', has expressed great enthusiasm for the project, which is set to go ahead at his own Magic Garden studios in Wolverhampton.

The single has been on the cards since late 1998, when Bearos founder Alan 'The Doc' Farmer first approached The Regulars to record it.

After the tortuous saga that has ensued, the growing number of fans awaiting its release will know to treat this latest announcement with caution; but band, producer and record label alike are hopeful that The Regulars' discography will now finally begin with a June release for the single.
