The
waiting is over...nearly Approximately 18 months after they were first approached to record a single for local label Bearos Records, The Regulars have organised studio dates to record it - which should finally see a release in April 2000. Local producer Paul Glave - whose recent work with top Brum lo-fi gloomsters Broadcast has attracted favourable attention - has agreed times and terms with the band to record the disc at his own Gatehouse studios in Hockley, Birmingham. Two tracks - Lie down and fight and the old favourite North star - will be recorded on 20 and 27 February, with a further session scheduled for the mixing process. The sleeve design will be chosen from work by Walsall designer Al Stewart - possibly using photography by Stuart Mills, whose Lightwoods Park session with The Regulars was used to illustrate the current Siren feature - and Cape Hill artist Kev Robinson. The disc - to be issued on seven-inch vinyl only - will be pressed in the Czech Republic, because it's cheap, and distributed by Cargo. Mr Bearos Records, Alan Farmer, appears to be delirious with relief. When asked by the band where the launch party would be held, he responded: "Where do you want?"
